Development of YPA Chapters…
Keeping in step with our movement, YPA is expanding upon nearly 30 years of leadership development, by way of implementing a 10-year plan to develop YPA Chapters on College Campuses (and communities) throughout the United States and various parts of the world. (As outlined in our “Chapter Development Executive Summary”)
The chapters are comprised of a collective body of young people who are elected and/or appointed to positions along with adult advisors, who are collectively responsible for the organization and management of the local YPA Chapters along with registering as a “coed” Venturing Crew with one of our partners, Boy Scouts Of America.
The Chapters are responsible for organizing activities, addressing community issues, participating in service-learning projects, venturing initiatives, fundraising, membership drives, travel, networking, adopting schools in other countries, and participating in citizenship-type activities, just to name a few. All such activities are designed to and centered around improving conditions in the lives of young people and the communities they live in and beyond.
Supported by an intense training process (The Five Core Disciplines of Leadership) and a strong collaboration with the Venturing, this process is designed to cultivate true leadership development and allows YPA members the opportunity to practice the art of organizing, conducting meetings, service learning, conflict resolution, business management, networking, team building, activism, advocacy and more…
Student Council Leadership Development…
For 40 years, the development of Leadership Councils has been the backbone of YPA’s movement. Through this process, YPA has created a roadmap to success, by emphasizing that leadership is not: organizing; graduating; voting; or even speaking out for or against issues. Rather, true leadership is “developing the leader within”, and understanding that the aforementioned is what leaders do. YPA teaches that Self-improvement is the basis for community development and challenges young people to develop an acute knowledge of themselves and the Creator.
Student Councils play a very important role in every school. They help share students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and administration. They help the students raise funds for school-wide projects. They assist the community when they are in need of aid. No matter what form of council the young person is involved in. Either a school, community or faith-based council, they are responsible for its leadership and that responsibility comes with many challenges.
YPA’s Student Council Development Program is an effective way to enhance your institution’s council. Through this effort we provide consulting & assessment services; council organization and facilitation; help to create and/or enhance a sound set of governing SOP’s and help them become a Co-ed Venturing Crew (if they choose to do so)
Supported by an intense training (The Five Core Disciplines of Leadership) and certification process, all of the council’s activities are purposefully designed to act as a platform for young people to practice and cultivate the art of leadership, in an effort to shape and mold their character and to help them to accomplish their personal and collective leadership goals.
Leadership & Other Training Workshops…
YPA offers a series of specialized training workshops in the areas of, but not limited to: critical thinking & conflict resolution; team building; networking; male & female relationships; diversity; priority management and our flagship leadership development training “The Five Core Disciplines of Leadership”. This two-day, comprehensive training workshop is designed to build the Spiritual; Social; Educational; Economical and Political competencies relevant to enabling the participants to become successful members of the society both presently and into adulthood. This process promotes a healthy balance in life and prepares youth for the workforce & financial stability, citizenship, spiritual centeredness, educational excellence and positive socialization. This training gives them the tools necessary to achieve that end and key factors to help youth develop their leadership potential.
YPA also offers specialized training assessments which afford us the opportunity to help you determine what your institution’s challenges may be, enabling us to custom design training workshops to meet your specific needs.
Leadership Conferences…
YPA specializes in the development of leadership and other themed conferences. We offer a professional straight to the point and simplistic process which affords you the luxury of a complete turnkey product. We will plan and execute your conference from start to finish.
Leadership Camps…
Through YPA’s vast network of land and facilities around the country and in Puerto Rico, YPA sponsors leadership camps and/or will custom design a short or long-term camp concept for your institution. From high ropes initiatives to rock climbing to rafting and horseback riding, we have the capacity to ensure that your group has a fun-filled leadership and educational outward bound experience that they will not soon forget.

YPA Leadership Contest: Forging Tomorrow’s Trailblazers
Within the vibrant YPA community, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming YPA Leadership Contest. This contest is a platform where we seek to identify exceptional young leaders and passionate community partners who embody the values, dedication, and potential to create meaningful change. Here’s a glimpse into the contest:
Contest Structure:
- Community Partners: For individuals or organizations passionate about collaborating with YPA to create a positive impact in the community, this category offers an opportunity to become a valued community partner. Community partners are essential in driving our mission forward.
How to Enter:
- Interested participants can submit their entry through our dedicated contest portal. They will be asked to provide a video outlining details about their background, interests, and why they believe they would be a valuable addition to the YPA and overall community. The contest opening date will be February 10, 2024. The contestants will have 30 days to register, (Closing March 10th, 2024) after which time they will campaign for 3 months (June 10, 2024) where they will encourage individuals to register and vote for them every 24 hours. The volunteer committee will monitor their submissions and track voting. Winners will be announced by July 10, 2024. We will hold the awards ceremony on by the end of July
Prizes:
As a token of appreciation for their dedication and commitment, the winners (10 males and 10 females) of the YPA Leadership Contest will receive an array of exciting prizes:
- $1000 scholarship: $1000 scholarship for leadership, education, and personal development is awarded to the 20 individuals who exemplify outstanding qualities in these areas. The winners of this contest are youth who have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, a strong commitment to education, and a dedication to personal growth and development.
- 7-Day Youth Leadership Retreat: This retreat is a unique opportunity for winners to connect, learn, have positive fun, and grow. It offers a space for personal development, the completion of YPA’s “Five Core Disciplines of Leadership” training process, learning how to manage and run a YPA Chapter, networking with fellow contest winners and other youth, and meeting political and community leaders during our travels across the State of Ohio. During this 7 days we will travel in various parts of the State of Ohio seeing some of what all our state has to offer.
The Trip will also include:
- Complete YPA 5 Core Disciplines of Leadership Training Course, during the 7 day trip.
- Visit National Underground Railroad Freedom Center – Cincinnati
- Visit National Afro-American Museum & Cultural Center- Wilberforest
- Visit Central State University and Wilberforce University- Wilberforce
- Visit Yellow Springs, Ohio
- Tour Old Man’s Cave
- Visit The Miamisburg Native American Mound
- Complete Hocking Hills Canopy Tours (high ropes, zip lines and other team building exercises)
- Visit Put-in-Bay and Cedar Point Amusement Park
- Wireless Tablet: A valuable tool for educational and professional pursuits, the tablet will equip winners with the resources they need to excel in their leadership roles with the YPA Chapter.
- $100 A Month Stipend: each of the 20 students will receive $100 per month stipend for being a part of the ypa Leadership council.
- NAACP Memebrbership: All youth leaders will be registered as youth members, with the local NAACP (The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People)
- Video Camera: Winners will receive a video camera to capture and share their journey, projects, and initiatives. This tool allows them to document their efforts and inspire others.
- Mentorship Training: Winners will have the privilege of engaging in mentorship training (The YPA 10 Steps to An Effective Mentorship) where they will receive guidance and support from experienced mentors within the YPA community.This mentorship is invaluable for personal and professional growth. Parents will also be included in this process via webcast.
- Marketing Incentives: Students and their parents will receive monthly marketing incentives such as: travel, food, fuel, electronics, and other valuable vouchers and certificates.
- YPA Backpack: A YPA backpack filled with other goodies from our supporters, and sponsors.
- YPA T-Shirt, Jacket & Other Paraphernalia: Each student will receive a YPA T-Shirt & Jacket (branded with all of the contest supporters), wristband, water bottle and branded face towel.

YPA Clubs
Young People in Action International (YPA) is launching a series of online clubs designed to provide our members with a positive and enriching digital environment. These clubs serve a multifaceted purpose, aiming to foster knowledge acquisition, networking opportunities, and a sense of camaraderie among our members. We will also create MeetUps, giving club members the opportunity for in-person connections and relationship building. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what you can expect from each of these clubs:
- Leadership Club: This club is dedicated to developing leadership skills in our members. Expect online courses, mentoring sessions, and tutoring that will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to become an effective leader in various contexts.
- Math Club: The Math Club focuses on enhancing mathematical proficiency. It offers online classes, mentoring, and tutoring to help members excel in mathematics, whether for academic purposes or personal interest.
- Science Club: Dive into the fascinating world of science. This club provides online courses, mentoring, and tutoring in various scientific fields, helping members expand their scientific knowledge and skills.

Classes will be held once or twice a week, with the frequency determined by the subject’s complexity. Each session will last for approximately one hour. For access to all the resources and expert facilitation, there is a monthly fee of $50. Rest assured, our facilitators are carefully vetted experts in their respective fields, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for our members.
In essence, YPA’s online clubs are an opportunity for personal and academic growth, social interaction, and skill development, all under the guidance of experienced facilitators. We aim to create a thriving online community where members can learn, connect, and grow.
